How long do you think being a JW will affect you?

i haven't been on this board for a while.

i've been on a conservative ezboard trying to see if we can't do something about political issues.

i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.

born into it, and all my family still in, so it will probaly always be a part of my life, not necessarily a burden, but til I die. That's just the way it is.

Damn right they can, I actually have more female friends then male friends,

and the only reason I have a lot of male friends is because of all the female friends I have.

Applying for a job, did you tell interviewers that you were a JW ???

when going for a interview, did you tell the interviewer that you were a jw , and couldn't work meeting nights.

did you think being theocratic would help you get the job ???.

or were you the type to take the job, so you could miss the meetings.

I have interviewed people that were JW's and they've said, they can't work meeting nights, I haven't had one in a long time though.

oh and case you were wondering, once the interview was over, the resume went in the garbage.

I didn't get the job

i have been doing contract work for about four years now and i have been trying to get a permanent position for well over a year.

last week i did an interview for a job that would have been perfect.

it was even very close to where i live... within a five minute drive.. this morning i got feedback and they really liked me, but decided to go with another candidate.

i have heard about this forum from someone, but i won't say who as i don't want to expose them.

i am in the process of evaluating my life as a jw.

it has been a pretty sad life - without a real feeling of 'belonging'.

JW's 'acting badly'.

the worst experience i think i ever had with jws acting badly was one time when a good friend of mine (a former jw like myself) tom, had a jw cousin in the hospital due to a very bad car accident.

his cousin (a woman in her late thirties) had suffered severe head trauma and it was not known at that time if she would recover.

practically all of toms immediate and extended family was jws.

a person I knew, (not close friend, but knew and saw on occasion), was taking his wife to the hospital to have their first baby,

he goes in with his wife, thinking he will come out with a wife and child, she dies during labor, and the baby doesn't make it,

he comes out empty handed, totally devastated.

the elders in all their great wisdom, told him to rely on Jehovah and get over it !!!!

he never went back to the hall after this.

Did guys try to come across as being super theocratic ??? and once they found out you weren't, you realized they weren't either, just a show ???

Ever hit on by a married JW ???

C'mon for all of us, lunch time was the best part of the assembly, you can admit it now, patrolling the areas, checking out the opposite sexes in your circuit/district.

Any strange comments from JW's you met at assemblies,

I have posted this experience before, but it still ranks as one of the best ...

A friend met a girl, once she found out he was not pioneering, she told him she could not talk to him anymore.

I was kinda told the same thing because I wasn't baptized.

NFL KICKOFF why is it so popular ???, did you gamble as a JW ???

well, the nfl is due to kickoff thursday, with the rest of the games going next sunday,.

many people outside the usa/canada probaly can't figure out why it is so popular, rugby definitely has more action and contact, soccer shows incredible skills even in low scoring games and they pack the crowds in, aussie rules football is very entertaining, so why is american football so popular ???.

the main reason .......... las vegas and gambling, plus the endless amount of pools (millions ansd millions)(i'm in 6 as of now, vary from $50-$500) across the nation.. most people don't care who wins, but by how much they win by, i have been in vegas and seen people pull out $100,000 to wager on a single game.
